[steam] Windows XP and Windows Vista Support

Starting on January 1 2019, Steam will officially stop supporting the Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems. This means that after that date the Steam Client will no longer run on those versions of Windows. In order to continue running Steam and any games or other products purchased through Steam, users will need to update to a more recent version of Windows.

With the recent update the install location for Counter-Strike 1.6 moved to SteamApps/common/Half-Life . If you are experiencing crashes on startup after the update, and are running on Windows, it is possible that your install failed to convert to the new location, it may still be trying to run from the old folder.

SteamIDs

A steamID is a unique identifier used to identify a Steam account. A steamID can be converted to the newer steamID3 and to a steamID64, sometimes referred to as community ID or friendID. With this steamID64, a user's Steam community page can be found. A customURL is an optional, more personalised identifier to look up a user's Steam Community page with.

Signing in

Signing in through Steam gives you the following options and features:

• show/hide a Steam user's avatar
• show/hide a Steam user's location in an embedded OpenStreetMaps frame
• export of list output for use in SourceBans
• enable/disable autofocus on the input form field
• post feedback

Signing in through Steam is entirely safe. Only your community id is passed on to STEAMID I/O, for which a profile will be created. In this profile you can set said options to your liking.

If you no longer wish to keep your profile, you may simply stop using it or request to having it removed and have your feedback (if you posted any) anonymised.

Instalaciju stima i skidanje istog možete izvršiti sa steam sajta, ako pratite sledeći LINK.

Zaštita

Kada je instalacija gotova registrujete se i verifikujete vaš nalog na mejl koji ste prethodno uneli prilikom registracije.
Desni klik na steam ikonicu u taskbaru potom settings, vodi vas do podešavanja vašeg naloga.
VAC Status bi trebao da bude "In good standing".Ispod toga imate Security Status, koji ako je crvene boje treba srediti klikom na drugme "Manage steam guard account security" kada se to otvori potrebno je štiklirati sledeće "Keep my account protected by Steam Guard".
Time ste zaštitili svoj akaunt, kako ?
-Logovanjem sa drugog kompjutera steam izbacuje da unesete sigurnosni kod koji prilikom tog logina steam support automatski salje na vaš mejl, i ukoliko vam je mejl dobro zaštićen niko ne može ući na njega i videti taj kod, tako možete i vi proveriti da li je neko pokušao da se loguje na vaš account.Ukoliko ste vi odišli do igraonice ili do druga isti je proces, login traži kod vi odete na mejl kopirate kod (refresh mejl ako nije stigao, pogledati trash pre nego što stisnete dugme da mejl nije stigao) i unesete ga na steam i tada ga otključa.Sledeći put steam pamti tako da sa tog istog kompa sledeći put je dovoljno uneti samo password.

onda ste mirni, ukoliko je crvena vreme je da se promeni sifra na mejlu i sifra na stimu kako bi se eventualno izbegle neželjene situacije.Nikome nemojte davati steam acc da vam namesti nešto jer tada su veoma malo mogućnosti da sledeći put možete koristi isti steam.

[Steam] Don't use the in-game overlay web browser! YOU'RE GOING TO GET VIRUSES

Normally, I use Firefox with the NoScript add-on so that I'm safe while surfing the web, but just a little while ago I was playing Fallout New Vegas and, just for convenience sake, I decided to Shift+Tab and use Steam's overlay browser to look up some New Vegas information off of New Vegas Wikia page. I went back into the game and a few minutes later I started hearing audio on my computer about a security error and that I should call a phone number (an obvious scam). I closed out of New Vegas ASAP and saw this pop-up and X'd it out, but the audio was still going.

I quit out of Steam and the audio went away, it was coming from the Steam webbrowser. I'm never using Steam's overlay web-browser ever again. It's unsafe. I've ran full system scans of Windows Defender and Malwarebytes and my system seems clean, I think it was just a pop-up, but I haven't seen anything like this in probably ten years. It also befuddles me because I thought Wikia was a reputable website, but I guess I'm wrong and it is a malicious website when you aren't running NoScript protection.

TL;DR: Do not use the overlay browser in Steam and do not use the internet without being on Firefox with the NoScript add-on.

To add as well, I'm super safe about how I use my computer. I don't pirate anything, I don't download any weird software, and I certainly don't go to weird websites.

• STEP 1: Go to steam -> library -> counter-strike -> properties -> launch options: -nofbo

• STEP 2: in properties, is also a tab "Local files" go to it and click verify integrity of game cache.

• STEP 3: while ingame go to video settings and remove vsync (via the console its gl_vsync 0)
